Description:

Preserving the buildings of three Spanish Colonial missions, built during the mid- to late 18th century, Tumacacori National Historical Park holds a major part of American history. These missions were part of the religious movement that worked to convert area inhabitants to Catholicism and the sites, along with the on site Tumacacori Museum, display evidence of many of the architectural and cultural influences that helped shaped the region. The park, set about 50 miles south of Tucson, is close to the United States-Mexico border and part of the sprawling Coronado National Forest.
